The Mum Recovery Check

“A calm, comprehensive assessment to support your recovery after pregnancy.”

Pregnancy and childbirth bring significant changes to your body and it’s not always easy to know what’s normal, what needs attention, or how your body should feel afterwards.

Our Mum Recovery Check is a detailed, one-to-one assessment with a specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapist. It’s designed to give you clarity, reassurance, and a clear understanding of how your body is recovering in a supportive and unhurried environment. It offers a more in-depth and clinically considered approach than many standard postnatal checks, looking at your recovery as a whole, rather than focusing on one area in isolation.

A thorough conversation about your recovery

We take the time to listen to your experience, your symptoms, and your concerns — as well as your goals— whether that’s returning to exercise or simply feeling more comfortable day-to-day.

The Assessment
A gentle but thorough assessment of your whole body, looking at how your body is functioning as a whole, including abdominal wall recovery (including diastasis), pelvic floor function and coordination, core strength and control, breathing patterns and pressure management, posture and movement patterns, and any areas of discomfort, weakness, or tension.

Guidance that makes sense
We explain what we find in a straightforward, reassuring way, so you feel confident in what’s happening and why.

A personalised recovery plan
Practical, realistic advice tailored to you, helping you move forward at the right pace for your body.

This assessment is suitable at any stage of motherhood — whether you’re in the early weeks after birth, have young children, or many years on and still noticing changes in your body.

You may find it helpful if:

  • You are not sure what you are feeling is normal
  • You have experienced changes since pregnancy that never fully resolved
  • You have put your own recovery to one side while caring for everyone else
  • You are experiencing symptoms such as leaking, heaviness, discomfort or weakness
  • You feel unsure about returning to exercises or certain activities
  • Something just doesn’t feel right even if you can’t quite explain it
  • Or you would simply value reassurance and a professional check tailored to you

We take a calm, considered approach giving you the time and space to feel heard and understood.

The aim is to give you clarity, confidence, and a clear way forward without being overwhelming.

A simple, supportive step towards understanding your recovery and feeling more like yourself again.

Pilates for Women’s Health

Pregnancy & Postnatal Clinical Pilates

Our Pilates qualified Women’s Health team provide Clinical Pilates classes designed specifically for Mum’s and Mum’s to be. These small, supportive group sessions combine safe, evidence-based exercises with specialist physiotherapy knowledge to help you stay strong, comfortable and confident throughout pregnancy and into motherhood.

Pregnancy and childbirth place unique demands on the body. Our classes focus on the key areas most affected — the pelvic floor, deep abdominal muscles, posture, breathing and overall movement control. Each programme is carefully adapted to your stage of pregnancy or recovery so that every exercise is safe, supportive and effective.

Whether you want to stay active during pregnancy, prepare your body for birth, or rebuild strength after your baby arrives, our women’s health physiotherapists will provide expert guidance every step of the way.

You Are in Safe, Experienced Hands

We understand that discussing pelvic health concerns can feel sensitive or even uncomfortable. Our Women’s Health Physiotherapists are specially trained in this area and approach every consultation with professionalism, compassion, and discretion.

Your appointment will take place in a private, calm clinical environment, where you will have time to talk openly about your symptoms and concerns. Assessments and treatments are always explained clearly, carried out respectfully, and only performed with your full consent.

Many women live with symptoms for months or even years because they feel embarrassed, assume it is “normal,” or simply don’t realise effective treatment is available. In reality, many pelvic health and women’s health issues respond extremely well to the right physiotherapy approach.

Our goal is simple: to help you feel comfortable in your body again, regain confidence in movement, and return to the activities you enjoy.

You don’t have to put up with symptoms that affect your quality of life. With the right support and treatment, improvement is often very achievable.
